This is Tanya Stimpson with this weeks crop insurance updated brought to you by the Sewell Agency in Chillicothe and ASI Insurance.
Are you ready for the 2010 Crop year for wheat? It is time to inform your insurance agent and sign up for 2010 Wheat coverage. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 30th.
The RA Wheat price Guarantee came in at $5.42 off the Kansas City Board of Trade, and the CRC Wheat price Guarantee came in at $5.29 off the Chicago Board of Trade. Both of these products are virtually the same except where the price is established off of. These 2 products have yield and price protection. If you would have a loss before harvest, than they would pay you off the base price established. Then at harvest time they set the harvest price from the Board of trade and if the price is higher than base then they will pay you the higher of the 2 on any yield loss. If the harvest price is lower than the base price then, you could get paid for price loss depending on your harvested yield and your guarantee. You need to check with your agent on which product would be best for you.
Again Deadline to sign up for wheat coverage or to change any coverage’s you currently have is Wednesday Sept 30th.

Wheat Sales Closing

This is Tanya Stimpson with this weeks crop insurance updated brought to you by the Sewell Agency in Chillicothe and ASI Insurance.
Wheat signup is coming near. You have until September 30th to sign up for wheat coverage. This is also the time to make any changes to your current Wheat insurance policies. The base price on wheat for CRC is running at $5.29 and the RA is at $5.42. The CRC and RA policies allow coverage on yield and price. First off if you have a low yield your claim would be paid on the base price of your policy which is the 5.29 or the 5.42 amount. Then at harvest time they run an average off of the Board of Trade and if it comes in higher than the lower than the base amount then the insurance will pick up the difference. Reminder the Base and Harvest Price is averaged off of the Board of Trade.
If you are signed up with any programs down at FSA you might visit with them on what all you need insured they do have programs that you are required to insure all of your crops.
During signup, take time to check over your policy information. Look at your policy type, spelling of your name, SS# and if your spouse is on the policy correctly. If you see any errors work with your agent to get them changed. Again you have until September 30th to change or sign up for the 2010 Wheat Insurance coverage’s.
