Hi! This is Lonnie Sewell of the Sewell Agency in Chillicothe with our 1st of a series of Crop Insurance informational updates.
What a difference a week makes. 1 week ago the most talked about thing involving crop insurance was what to do about the wheat but with all the flooding I think I had better talk about our options and what we can do or can’t do.
Right now if you have buy up crop insurance meaning something more than a Cat Policy and you had a crop planted and it was damaged by all the rain or is still underwater all you can turn in is a replant claim today. I know what some of you are thinking, Replant! My farm is 5’ under water! But until June 5th for corn and 20th for soybeans the government expects us to try to get a crop planted. After that date we have some options. Such as final settlement, then go to another crop of leave it bare. On the ground not planted more options. Prevent plant. Prevent plant then go to another crop. We will discuss these options next week. Be sure to contact you r agent for more information. This message was brought to you by The Sewell Agency in Chillicothe.
