Week # 23 Claims and Harvesting

Hi! This is Tanya Stimpson with this week’s crop insurance update. This week’s topic is Spring Crop Claims and Harvesting, brought to you by The Sewell Agency in Chillicothe.
Most of you are almost done harvesting your corn and have started on your beans by now. Even with the dry weather we received this summer all crops seem to be yielding better than expectations. But there are some corn and bean losses out there. If you should suspect that your yield is low and you have a loss call your agent and get it turned in. The adjusters will work with you to figure whether you do or not. They would like for your claims to be turned in 15 days after your harvest so they can get started on your claim work. The sooner you can get it into me the sooner they can get it finished so in turn the sooner you get paid.
If you are done with your corn harvest, I suggest that on any wet days you have, gather your yields and call them into your agent so your production history yields can be updated. This also gives us opportunity to help figure if you might be close to a claim. The adjuster does have the final say but if you are close we can defiantly turn it in.
