Hi! This is Lonnie Sewell with the Sewell Agency bringing you this week’s crop insurance update.
This week we have had a lot of calls about replanting Corn. Buy up crop insurance pays 8X the bushel price which on Corn is $4.06 or a total of up to $32.50 per Acre.
However most of the calls have been about prevented planting. For corn, June 5th is the date. If the ground is truly unplantable, you should be eligible for a prevent plant payment. There are some guidelines such as regardless how many acres you intended to plant to corn this year. Your prevent plant for corn will be limited to the maximum number of corn acres you have planted in any of the previous 4 years, unless you have added land for 2007. Then you will be eligible for increased acres. We hope you have a good week farming. This update was brought to you by the Sewell Agency in Chillicothe.
