Week # 7 Crop Reporting & Finalizing Claims

Hi! This is Tanya Stimpson with this week’s crop insurance update. This week’s topic is crop reporting and finalizing claims and brought to you by AgriServe Crop Hail Insurance and the Sewell Agency in Chillicothe.
As planting time is winding down with June 20th being the last day to plant Soybeans and Milo without a guarantee penalty it is time to report. You have until July 15th to report acres planted to your insurance agents. You must first report to FSA and then bring your 578 form to your agent. This provides fewer errors on planting dates and acreage planted.
If you have a prevent plant or a final claim open on corn or soybeans your claims cannot be finalized until you report your acreage with us. So the sooner you bring in your acreage planted and planting dates, the sooner you will receive your claim payment.
Just as a reminder as these crops are growing they are susceptible to the hail that comes along in some of these storms. You can protect your crops with only $2 - $3 per acre.
Again, as soon as you are finished planting, report to FSA and then to your insurance agent. View this update and others online at Blog4020.blogspot.com. Or phone the Sewell Agency at 660-646-4020 your connection to crop protection.
